Have a question? It’s probably been asked and answered.
Q: You’re a dope singer, but your tracks are really fresh too! I want to talk to the man responsible for making all of those wild beats! Who’s producing for you?
A: Um… man? What man?!?! I mean, I do occasionally collaborate with other producers from time to time, but for the most part the bulk of what you’ve heard from me is self-produced. I make my own music. *Blank stare* Yeah, I know! Crazy, huh? Don’t believe me? Check the credits.
Q: Oh word! What label are you signed to?
A: I’m not signed to any label. I’ve got a distribution deal with rxlngr and work pretty closely a few other indies. I’m still holding out for that ideal situation to present itself.
Q: Oh wow… so that means when people bootleg your stuff, it actually DOES effect you???
A: Yeah, I definitely feel it. It’s kinda wack. But like… imagine if every one of my fans actually bought my record. *Blink* I’m just saying… I’m not part of some big budget machine that’s just throwing money at marketing and promotion to push a million cds down people’s throats. The labels I’ve worked are all pretty small but they run tight ships and have done an amazing job of keeping my projects visible, while making it all look as good as they sound.
Q: So what would you tell someone who’s downloading your music right now?
A: Just that this is my job. I make music for a living. But should the day comes where I can’t make a living of it, then I’ll have to quit and do what makes my living. So if they’re not going to support my efforts by purchasing the music I make or coming to a show I’d appreciate it if they’d at least told someone who will, to check me out. Word of mouth goes a long way.
Q: Dang! Ok so… where can I buy your music?
A: Well shoot, a bunch of places. But it’s probably easiest to find digitally. I think iTunes has the most you’ll find. But yeah, just google me! Lol.
Q: Cool, but do you have any free music I check out before I start spending all my hard earned coins?
A: Sure do! You can listen on facebook.com and myspace.com and other sites likelast.fm and iLike.com. Also, if you’re a registered user to this website you can download free treatfrom the treats page!
Q: Oh, nice! So um… how can I book you for my festival, batmitzvah, wedding, baby shower etc?
A: For booking inquiries please visit the contact page on this website and write to the attention of management/booking or email booking@rxlngr.com and be sure to include all the vital deets (ie. date you’re trying to book, location, budget, etc.)
Q: How much would you charge to perform if I provide the DJ?
A: Um, yeah… I don’t deal with any of that stuff. Please refer back to my last answer. Oh and FYI- If the plan is to provide a DJ for me… please don’t. I’m aiming to do more interesting and engaging things than singing over tracks.
Q: Gotcha. So why haven’t you played in my city yet? When are you coming next?
A: Scheduling conflicts aside, it’s probably because the criterium necessary for booking me in your city, has yet to be met. There has to be enough fan demand to bring me there and more importantly… a promoter who not only knows who am, but is interested in paying me money to come. I can’t just show up to places with a smile on my face, hoping for the best. That would not last long. Lol.
Q: Well, how does it work then? How can I help get you booked in my city?
A: Well, there’s tons you as fans can do. The simple thing would be to just continue to show support. Spreading the word about me and my music goes such a long way. And if you’re super enthusiastic you can Join Team Muhsinah.
Q: What in the world is Team Muhsinah?
A: Team Muhsinah is my support system. A network of stand up fans who enjoy, support and promote my efforts.
